Re: Rossi out with a broken leg!!

Shit, shit, shit...........

Seems accurate, surgery scheduled for tonight... how many riders have been injured or killed in training accidents this year.... damn. When Rossi broke his leg I think it was in '10, following his accident, the popularity of MotoGP in attendance and on TV dropped like a stone. So sad for him and his fans, and the sport in general.

I really hope he comes back from this injury but this could be the end of one of the greatest motorcycle racers career.

Re: Rossi out with a broken leg!!

I predict he'll be out for the season but heal completely and contend for the championship again next year. Before he retires he will easily set the record for the most wins ever and will possibly become the oldest Grand Prix winner ever. He should be as fit at 44 as he is today.

Fuck! Bad news, indeed... and I think of how many of my friends have been hurt on the dirt - this year

I hope this doesn't close him out - he's no Spring chicken.

If he broke both of those bones he's out for at least six months but he's 38 and should recover.

edit: I didn't even play a Doctor on TV.

Just speeded up the natural process of Zarco getting his job and hopefully they will reward him properly instead of the pittance that Herve is paying him.

He sustained tib/fib compound fractures in 2010 in Mugello, and he was back racing 6 weeks later... modern orthopedic medicine is amazing, especially when you can afford the best. Of course, he is seven years older now, but I wouldn't put anything past him...

Re: Rossi out with a broken leg!!

“The surgery went well. This morning, when I woke up, I felt already good."

http://www.crash.net/motogp/news/881...on-as-possible

Valentino Rossi has undergone a ‘successful’ operation on his fractured tibia and fibula in his right leg and reports he is already feeling better as he aims to return to racing ‘as soon as possible’.

The MotoGP title contender underwent surgery overnight to fixate the fractures using a metal pin, a locked intramedullary nail, and has woken up from the operation without any complications. Yamaha are yet to give a timeframe for his return, with Rossi saying only he’ll aim to be back as quickly as he can.

The nine-time world champion was hospitalised after an enduro accident while training near his home last night.

“The surgery went well,” Rossi said. “This morning, when I woke up, I felt already good. I would like to thank the staff of the Ospedali Riuniti in Ancona, and in particular Doctor Pascarella who operated on me.

“I'm very sorry for the incident. Now I want to be back on my bike as soon as possible. I will do my best to make it happen!”

Rossi was absent from MotoGP for six weeks after a similar injury, and surgery, in 2010.

I hope his recovery goes well and that he in fact does come back. It is amazing how his desire to race is still so strong after all these years.

Hell, I'm doing a lot less now that I reached that plateau.
Sure, I have way more time to do it but...
Getting hurt now means a long convalescence with reduced capabilities afterwards...
You're repaired but not like new.

This just in from Yamaha

The Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team regrets to report that Valentino Rossi will not be able to compete in the upcoming Gran Premio Tribul Mastercard di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, to be held this weekend.

The Factory Yamaha team will compete in round 13 of the 2017 MotoGP World Championship with Maverick Viñales as its sole rider.

The whole of Yamaha wishes Valentino Rossi a speedy recovery and hopes to see him back on his YZR-M1 as soon as possible.

As soon as I read the bad news my interest dropped like a boat anchor. All the others are ultra good razors, but no one has the flavor to draw the fans.

Couple of races ago he was kicking butt then he was out. The camera panned to a little Rossi fan crying, must have been 5 years old. That young one knows greatness!

Re: Rossi out with a broken leg!!

Some breaking news:
==============

Crocked nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi is scheduled to test a Yamaha R6 roadbike at Misano tomorrow to see in what shape his leg is in ahead of the Aragon MotoGP round this weekend.

The Movistar Yamaha rider, who used a Yamaha WorldSBK bike for the same purpose after his Mugello crash in 2010, is hoping to go to the Spanish track and take part in free practice one.

If it is a no go from then, Michael Van Der Mark will get the M1 for the afternoon session onwards.

Re: Rossi out with a broken leg!!

Rossi has left for Aragon. He done some laps in Misano on his R1 and felt "comfortable", what ever that means when you leg is broken. He will do the first session on Friday and make decision then on whether to continue - cant imagine him doing all that only to watch.

It really is amazing - I watched the race and other than the start - thought he was in trouble at the launch - he looked great.

When he tells you he can't ride - probably no one else on the planet could either. I know he's not the only one that has returned with injuries - these riders are fierce competitors.
