Hello from the desert SW - USA

Hello. I'm an old retired guy. I've had 49 motorcycles in my 50+ years of riding and I currently have several. I've owned German bikes, Italian bikes, American bikes, and Japanese bikes.

I just purchased a 2005 K1200S to keep my 2004 R1100S company.

Thanks Chris. BMW makes some nice looking bikes, especially the "R" models. I love a bike whose engine is on display and not hidden by tupperware. But I also understand the need for aerodynamics on a sport bike.

It's really nice to think about but, for a couple of reasons, can't happen. Maybe some year though.

(I do have items on my todo list that I will probably never do . . . oh well . . . )

Welcome to I-BMW, Tim... those are some sweet bikes...

I've done a lot of riding in Arizona in the past few years, and I'm planning to relocate there soon... I love Arizona. Whereabouts do you live??

Not far from Tucson. Best thing is that I can ride all year long -- and winter is better than summer. Although I love riding in the summer too -- leaving the house at dawn and back before it gets too hot.

Welcome Tim, I really want to relocate to Tucson myself. Been there and even in the summer the temp does not feel that bad compared to Tampa, FL where I currently reside. I have to go to NC, GA, Tenn 8-12 hours away to get in some good riding.

Thanks for the welcome.

It sounds like a cliche but low humidity, sometimes as low as 9%, does make a difference.

I love both of your bikes! I'm curious about the checkerboard pattern on the K bike. Decal? Special graphics? Where? If I'd purchased a black K12 instead of the bumblebee version I'd have wanted to do this kind of treatment. More pics, please!

I just bought the 2005 K1200S from the original owner who purchased the bike new. It has 18K miles now. It was either a custom paint job sub-contracted out by the dealer or a BMW OEM custom paint job. The original owner showed me/gave me the original invoice and it states on there that the brand new bike has custom paint.

I've been looking for years for a nice used (heavy) K1200RS with the old longitudinally-mounted brick motor -- one with the checker flag paint scheme -- when this K1200S popped up.

Here are a couple more pics . . .

Okay, so, I looked at the pics and had to smoke a cigarette afterwards. That being said, you're not worthy of such a bike. You need to trailer this steed - CAREFULLY - up to Colorado where you're 'ol buddy Spanky will give her lots of TLC. Heck, I'll even send you photos, etc., of me enjoying her. Yes, I know I'm a nice guy but you'd better move fast or I might change my mind.

The paint job really caught my eye when I saw the ad the first time. And fairly low miles (18K) and owned by a responsible older guy just a bit younger than me -- not some hooligan that thrashed it. Although I don't think that hooligans opt for BMWs too often -- too expensive.

Show me a pic of your 06 K1200S.
