Untimely problem ...

Hi everyone,

All advice gratefully received! You know those little black seals for changing the time on the digital clock in the instrument cluster? Well, one of mine just gave up the ghost! You'll see that the centre of the pushrod seal has detached and been pushed (yes, by me) part way into the housing. Any hints on how to replace it, hopefully without having to strip down the whole instrument cluster?

Sorry, was having trouble getting the photos to display.

I had to change my bezel out because that window over the idiot lights and clock cracked out of the blue, let me see if I still have the old one. Bit of a mission to get the clips off the instrument cluster to get it out, but the bezel changes easily.

Re: Untimely problem ...

Pushrod seal from the parts fiche.$5.36 ea.

Windscreen...nose and plastic covers all have to come off.

Two bolts/one clip hold the cluster.Remove and tip cluster back. Then all them phillips screws.

But first remove the odometer reset button.Rubber boot behind the button has to be pulled up or pushed down (been a while so I think up?) to expose the shaft. Then grab shaft with needle nose pliers and unscrew the knob.

Untimely? As in I'd rather ride than spend a few hours on that?Permatex black Polyurethane adhesive carefully applied will seal that hole.Very flexible as it is mostly rubber so could be almost permanent.
