South East Brisbane Ride

Hey All.
We are organising a day ride on the either the 13th or the 20th of June. The ride will take us down the Numinbah Valley to Tyalgum where we will have lunch at the pub. While this road is very familiar to most of us it is still a brilliant ride and is a great opportunity to put faces to the names we see on our forum and meet some new riding buddies. Could you nominate your favoured date or both dates ASAP so that we can select the most suitable day.
Meet at the BP Beaudesert Rd Browns Plains. 9am on the selected day

Re: South East Brisbane Ride

Great work Peter, we have gathered quite a few riders in the Brisbane area on here and it will be great for you guys to meet up, AND to see so many K series BMW's in the one place.
I used to live in Tamborine and Cedar Creek and taught myself to ride along a lot of those roads on the CBR250, RD350LC and Z1000J. When i moved back to NSW i stopped pushing my luck and got my licence and started registering bikes..........
You guys are going to have a ball, cant wait to see some pictures of the area.

cheers
Kiwimat

.......maybe i can fly up and borrow somebodies second bike....... hang on, let me pass that by the misses.......LOL

Matt, are you planning on doing both? Sydney or Brisbane run?
Your wife and work must be very empathic at the moment

Can we have before and after pictures of the Princess.......
I guess you guys could always go to the Bearded Dragon in Tamborine and watch the Cane Toad races if the weather goes bad.
Looking forward to seeing some pics from that area David, i lived in Tamborine and Cedar Creek, lots of great riding on those roads your doing today.

cheers

Sorry I couldn't make it guys - had to pull out family commitments - son is heading off to Europe so wife scheduled a family day.

Don't feel too bad for me as I will be slumming it at the Sofitel Seafood Buffet. Ho hum the things we have to do.

Have a safe enjoyable ride.

Re: South East Brisbane Ride

Was a good ride... good company and good inclement weather practice.

Here's the "before photo": (this is the weather before this weekend):

And here are some "during" photos, taken on the State border crossing at Numinbah. If you look closely, you may notice the weather is different this weekend

Re: South East Brisbane Ride

Well the day started off quite well with blazing sunshine thro my bedroom window. As we travelled south tho the grey clouds with a bit of drizzle appeared. Over the high country thro Beechmont it really was quite so we all stopped and decided what to do. 360degrees of misty rain. We decided to continue travelling down the mountain and see what the weather was like there as the weather radar accessed on our cell phones showed no rain. Sure enough it was fine and even a bit of sunshine as we travelled south on the Numinbah valley road. The climb back up the range (where Ken - Techcomputing's photos in the previous post were taken) produced more misty showers. This dissipated as we descended down the range to Chillingham and was the last wet we really had. Lunch at the Tyalgum and a quick walk to a coffee shop afterwards quelled the tapeworms and we headed back. Craig - cmaynebne left us at Chillingham to return home a quicker route. All in all it was a good ride in spite of the weather made more pleasurable by sensible riding in the conditions and the instant cameradie even tho' some of the group had not met previously. Craig and Ken welcome to iBMW. I have a couple of go pros to post when i work out how to do it.

Re: South East Brisbane Ride

Great Pics guys, and a good turnout too.
Good work putting this together Peter, and even better for all you guys and gals that joined in, even if the weather looked doubtful.

cheers

Re: South East Brisbane Ride

Peter, did the same ride last weekend. Weather was a bit better so have posted a couple of pics. Sadly someone lost their life at Beechmont the day before. Significant LEO presence across the region.

Great pics Craig. It certainly is a beautiful area. Have planned a Northside ride so will call you re dates. And your bike looks spectacular.

Re: South East Brisbane Ride

I see in your second pic (background) Craig that they've let the brontosaurus out to graze above the house.
