SPOILER - Malaysian MotoGP

FP1 and 2 are in the books, looks like the second session was wet. Be really great for the series if Dovioso could narrow the points gap so that the championship remains open, although it may take some odd results to unseat MM, seems like the Ducks are in better form this weekend......

MotoGP Malaysia: Dovizioso back on top in FP1, Marquez fifth

Andrea Dovizioso is back on form at Sepang, leading Alvaro Bautista and Johann Zarco in MotoGP FP1.

Andrea Dovizioso fastest during a quiet start to the Malaysian MotoGP weekend, due to damp track conditions around Turns 4-8 in the early part of the session.

However the track was almost fully dry by the end of the 45-minutes, with riders pushing for a lap time in case of further rain in FP2 and FP3.

Marc Marquez has his first chance to wrap-up the 2017 MotoGP title, holding a 33-point lead over Dovizioso with two races and a maximum of 50-points remaining.

Tech 3's Jonas Folger returned to Germany on the eve of the Motegi round to undergo tests for a suspected recurrence of the Epstein Barr virus and is replaced by Michael van der Mark, making his MotoGP debut.

Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro is absent after injuring his hand at Phillip Island and has not been replaced...

Re: SPOILER - Malaysian MotoGP

I noticed MM was running with an aero faring... not nearly as garish as that Ducati expression

Can't see MM not clinching this weekend, we'll see

Re: SPOILER - Malaysian MotoGP

at the last GP, phillip island, at the end of the race in parc ferme, they showed a small front aero appendage on the Honda.

Watching the post race interviews from the last race, Rossi was asked if he enjoyed the aggressiveness of riders today. His response was great and just shows how much he loves competition.

He says, "Eeeehhhhh, you know," then pauses to shrug his shoulders with a knowing smirk on his face.
"This is the game now. If you want to play, it's like this..."
"You have to be brave, and I'm ready." A big grin on his face. "If this is the game, I'm ready to play. No problem."
"It's more dangerous, for sure," he chuckles, "We hope that everything will be good."

The guy is a walking sound bite. A great competitor with a kid-like enthusiasm.
No wonder he has fans everywhere.

Go Vale!

Re: SPOILER - Malaysian MotoGP

Should be a ding-dong of a start, given the grid positions... hopefully it's a dry race...

I was amazed today when the commentators mentioned the KTM engine still runs forwards

Hot damn! Best qualifying I've watched in a while.
Reminds me of the best of knock out qualifying in F1 before it went all pear shaped.

Re: SPOILER - Malaysian MotoGP

race was a good watch.

Most of the drama was whether or not team orders would be needed and whether the championship would continue to Valencia.

Looks like one more race

Re: SPOILER - Malaysian MotoGP

Ironic that Moto3 and Moto2 were dry, and it rained for MotoGP - glad to see the championship come down to the last race. Wonder what's going on with Rossi's and Vinales' Yamaha's in the wet, when Zarco is totally competitive on his Yamaha in the wet? MM's save in practice was stunning! Seeing the red streak in turn 15 from Lorenzo's knee puck when he nearly crashed and Dovi got by was amazing, well here are the results,

My question is, is Zarco that good?
Or the 2017 chassis that bad?

Re: SPOILER - Malaysian MotoGP

I’d say 60 chassis 40 him.the problem Zarco is going to have that all Tech3 riders do do once they have got to the sharp end of Moto GP there’s little point in doing it for nothing Edwards and Toseland were the last of the big bucks riders Herve had, all those after have ridden for peanuts with exception of Pol because he had a factory contract.
