Yes, it is an awesome 2-up bike...and I would have kept mine and sold the KS, but once I got it's suspension set up properly, the KS outshone the KRS in every way.

My daughter loved riding pillion on the KRS and she was hardly noticeable, as you've said. Now we ride on the GSA and that's an even better 2-up bike.

Re: Best K Bike Ever?

I've had a K12RS, a K1200S, and a K1300S Motosport. Having put 2500 miles on my
still newish 2016 K1600GT...it is clearly going to stand as my all-time favorite.

Why? Probably the heated seat, cruise, power windshield, and comfortable riding position.

Re: Best K Bike Ever?

I tend to agree with Matt (KiwiMat), the best K bike is MINE!

I've had four from the humble PITA K100RS, two versions and colours (Madison Blue and Classic Black - my choice), the mighty K1200RS (Mandarin yellow, Silver and the outlandish chequered flag on both sides), that seemingly defied gravity going very hard down hill through the twisties; to my current mount - the 2012 K1300SHP. This bike is the epitome of a sports tourer and as you guys that have one will testify, all day up hill and down dale with nary a twitch. Or super bloody fast through winding countryside and mountains, sure footed and instilling confidence with every km racked up! Even the mighty Hiyabusa finds it hard to out shine the HP

Re: Best K Bike Ever?

I love my '06 K1200R I bought over a year ago and have put 8 thousand miles on it. I am now at 15,000 miles on the odometer. I wish I could get a K1300R over here in the USA!

Re: Best K Bike Ever?

Hmm. Let's see ...

#1, by a country mile = 1988 K100 RS - 240,000 odd kms (just needed servicing and a few parts every now and then), easily did 200 km/h two-up along the Stuart Highway between the Dog Fence and Alice or out past Broken Hill, was fabulous on unsealed roads, dead simple to work on, looked superb - stylish even after 30 years, and was black! My only real criticisms were: original suspension truly sucked (the infamous "K wallow"), smoked like a trooper if left on the side stand for more than a nanosecond, and she was scorching hot to ride if it was over 40 degrees C.

#2. The "newer" 2004 K1200 GT is a much better ride: faster, corners better, and better brakes. Absolute pleasure to ride! Great fairing and screen, heated seat, heated grips; but verging on ugly, time consuming to strip the tupperware, crap lights, and not convinced I'll get 230,000 kms out of her. My one isn't black either.

At the end of the day, the answer to the pole is, clearly, a K-bike.

Re: Best K Bike Ever?

It's no coincidence that I happen to own the two bikes which came in 1st and 2nd in the poll.

The K1200RS would be what Bentley produced if they made motorcycles. Totally unpretentious, supremely capable, linear power delivery and as smooth as honey dripping onto silk. I especially love its quirkiness - it's not even symmetrical! It will still be running when my slant 4 is smoking in a skip.

Its 'grandson' the K1300S is a very different prospect. It will do anything the old Taxi can do - but at Warp Factor 6. Equally beautiful to me but in a much more angular way, it does demand more commitment and concentration than the RS, but is so rewarding. I still look back at my Motorsport every time I walk away and leave it sulking on the side stand.

Always a K-Bike Kid.

Re: Best K Bike Ever?

As a current K1300S owner it's difficult not to be biased heavily in favor of it...yes it's the best BMW Motorrad of all time IMO.

That being said, I have previously test ridden a K1100RS and a K1200RS. Of the two K-RSs I liked the 1100 better as the 1200 seemed a bit portly.

I previously owned two Boxers; a '94 R100GS/PD and a '99 R1100S...both great BMWs.

Most of our local BMW Club Members have R1XXXGS, R1XXXRT, and K1600GT.

I've never owned a Motorcycle with a Barn Door, uh I mean Full Coverage Fairing. I don't ride to feel like I'm in a Car! I love the feeling of air rushing over me while I have an unobstructed view around me.

Re: Best K Bike Ever?

I finally voted and I voted for the K1300S. When this poll first started I did not have enough experience with my K1300S to vote.

I no longer own a K bike at this time - that could change in the future - time will tell but I'm leaning towards the S1000R.

So I owned a 2004 K120GT - a 2007 K1200S - and 2 K1300S's a 2013 and a 2014.

Putting aside all the issues I had and simply reflecting on each bike my 2014 K1300S hands down for me was my best K bike experience.

It basically did it all and it did in such astounding good fashion really a remarkable motorcycle.

I will say my K1200GT(first BMW)was the eye opener for me in coming to the BMW motorcycle way of life.

First time I rode a K1200(at Laconia bike week) it was an RS - I was simply blown away - I could not believe the power delivery and the awesome ride - so much so I went home and bought my K1200GT.

I will mention I may have voted for my K1200GT because if that bike had not been a mechanical nightmare I may have kept it for many years and my path to the slant engine K bikes would have been much later down the road.

But again if I'm simply going on - get on one of these bikes and take each out for an afternoon - the K1300 without question is the best K bike I have ever ridden.

Iíve owned both the GTL and the GT and for me the GT works best. But itís what you have in the garage that is the best. I like them all.

Max - You can try my K1200RS anytime - but don't sell the K13. You need both.
