The bumblebee is suddenly running rough- pointing to bad sensor, bad coil, or much worse.

Is your camchain rattling?

And what happened to your windscreen?

Also, having the bike sit outside in the rain isn't going to help isolating the problem.

You say suddenly... How suddenly?? Perhaps after putting fuel in it? Maybe it's just bad gas..

Re: K1200S missing , hesitating -2006

I find that my K12 is susceptible to running a bit rough if it's not ridden regularly. This was especially so in the winter months until I discovered that keeping the tank full and adding Stabil to the mix goes a long way towards avoiding water contamination in the fuel tank.

I also agree with Patrique83, storing a bike uncovered in rainy conditions ain't good.

Re: K1200S missing , hesitating -2006

Start out by using some Techron Plus or Sea Foam gas treatment. Then thinking about the serious stuff, coils come to mind.

Re: K1200S missing , hesitating -2006

Had the same problem with my 2006. One day it was fine, next day a cylinder misfire. Used my infrared thermometer and could see from the exhaust header that one cylinder want firing. Tore bike down and used my oscope to find I had a bad coil. Replaced coil (think it was $160) and everything ran fine. It was a real pain in the ass job.

Re: K1200S missing , hesitating -2006

My 05 was doing the same thing and someone suggested bad gas. Drain BP gas and top off with Shell gasoline along with STP injector cleaner. It ran a little bit better but it still sputters or hesitate under 3000 rpm. It's fine at high speed cruise but the moment you accelerate, it hesitates... Not sure what to do at this point but maybe replace the fuel filter or spark plugs.
Please advise.... HELP anyone??

Re: K1200S missing , hesitating -2006

Sounds like intermittent coil failure. It is going to be hard to find which one. Some buy a set on ebay and change them all. It is a big job because you have to pull the radiator to get to them. This means vacuum refill of the coolant. Things for you to do a search on here as to how to do this. See if you can find one of the headers cooler than the others. Infrared thermometers are not expensive any longer.

Re: K1200S missing , hesitating -2006

I have a 2005 K1200S and I rode it yesterday for 185 miles, no problems. Got on it this morning and it is hesitating/missing at low RPMs really bad. I ran the tank down to almost nothing yesterday, filled it with the usual gas this morning from the same gas station as the day before. Had the hesitation before I put in the new tank of gas.
Rode for 40 or so miles and noticed the missing goes away above 5,000 RPM but only when I am in a tight range of the throttle. If I give it too much throttle it hesitates (even at high RPMs) and it hesitate and misses as low RPMs. There is a sweet spot where I can cruise at 5K+ and she runs just like she always has.
Thought maybe clogged an injector since the fuel was run down to almost nothing the day before (but I run the tank down to nothing almost every day) so not sure why yesterday was any different.
I see the coil argument, sounds like a good one. Maybe at higher RPMs the coil re-ignites but under heavy load it can't produce the juice. Will try the thermal on the header thing and will report back.
If anyone has anything else I could check let me know.
Thanks
