Re: Left / Right switch failure

Had the same issue with my K1600GTL. Switch cluster. The printed circuit inside the switch cracks. Both switch cluster were replaced under warranty. Some times you can get them to work by cooling the switch with ice or as I did spray it with R22 refrigerant.

Braggerman, there is an active recall on switchgear. Contact your dealer.

Re: Left / Right switch failure

Active worldwide warranty on all new style switchblocks, Australian dealers are directed to replace both sides regardless of which side fails, I had one left fail on a K1300R and three on a K1600GT!

Re: Left / Right switch failure

Had both right and left replaced when they failed under warranty. Now the left side does not cancel the flasher, I have to let it run out on its own. Called Brad at Moto International and he will be replacing both under a recall, GRATIS

Re: Left / Right switch failure

I've had no switch issues with my 09 K13GT. Owned it since new. Bag locks, different story. All other well discussed issues/recalls (final drive, stalling, etc.), so far so good (71K km).

Had the bike in last week for the rear wheel flange recall and they replaced the switches both sides. I hope the new ones are no more unreliable than my old ones (i.e. good)...

Hopefully your's gets fixed on BMW's tab. It's been a recall issue (in Canada) for a while now, not warranty, so any owner should get the fix gratis.

My $0.02.
