We took the ferry from Liverpool to the Isl-of-Man, and it was packed with bikes and riders with full gear. The festivities were well on thier way when we got there

Because of extreem winds the super bike race was postponed till Sunday. A helicopter was blown down and the pilot was killed! We had time to find our way around the island, we also watched practice runs for two days.

Re: TT

Oh yeah and then there were the races! The first place we watched at was called Ballacraine.
We were still watching practice runs. I was standing about two feet off the road on a slight hill, you hear the howl of the bikes comming. When just one bike passed in a flash the wind that was created was incredible!
There was several hundred people there, and a pub on the corner with hords of people outside beers in hand. I'll try to post a video.
We also watched from Braddan Bridge, the start, and Creg-NY-Baa.
At the start we watched Bruce Anstyne from Newzeeland win the super bike race, and set a new track record.

Re: TT

I can't post videos, don't know how.
This is at Craig-Na-Baa. The super stock race, and the best place we watched from. You could hear the riders scraping the knee pucks on the corner.

I was there in 2008. Just unreal. If you love bikes and races you have to go at least just once!

A couple of things, use the img codes, it is easier. I see you are using photobucket so use the "Direct" code which is a straight link. Copy that link then paste it into your post using the "picture" icon on the edit bar at the top of the text box.

Here is an example.

If you quote my post you will see what the code looks like. I find that 10 pictures is about the most you'd want to include in a single post. More than that and it gets a bit crowded. Good luck!

This is Guy Martin, he just came out of the Mike Hailwood building, and he was swarmed. He did two autographs, and he was back into the BMW building. He didn't seem to like the swarm. I was about four feet from him when I took the picture.

Re: TT

For me the TT was more about being there than the actual races. You could hear the broadcast of who was in the lead on load speakers or you could buy a small radio that hung on your ear. Suprizingly there was no big screen any where even at the start where you could see the whole race unfolding. To watch parts of it, you would get to a spot half an hour before the roads closed to the public and thats where you stayed. untill they opened later in the day. There was always a pub there, and usually stands or chairs set up. The pubs were all jam packed, with most people just buying there beer there and walking out with it.
When we first arrived a good friend picked us up at 6:00 am and drove us arround the course, and showed us what the riders were up against. Mad sunday was canceled because the super bike races were postponed. That is the day when anyone could ride the course as full tilt. One of the marshals that we got to know well told us the horror stories of multiple bike collisions during mad sunday the previous year, resulting in numerouse deaths. Even before the races had started. The hospital on the island was at capacity and they were flying injured riders to Liverpool. Unfortunatly I didn't have my bike there, probably best cosidering all.
We heard of one person getting in serious trouble for being on the road when it was closed to public., Apparently he was ignoring the marshals. He was in court the next morning, his bike was confiscated, he was incarcerated for 8 weeks, and received big fines, driving bans for five years with subsequent penalties when he arrived at home in England! Other than that the atmosphere was pleasant and curtiouse.
If you go book well in advance, everthing there is very expensive. (except beer). Busses are plentifull. You would miss having a bike there.
