Re: Throwing the Towel In

Wow, all great advice for Bruce. My story is similar to others. Had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands, it's life changing if you know the pain. Added Helibars and cut the seat way down. I now ride my K13S pain free and over long multi-day distances.

Re: Throwing the Towel In

Aw hell, man. Getting old is not for sissies. Don't get a KTM. I hear that they are an odor of magnitude more complicated to work on the BMW bikes. Check out this web site: http://cycle-ergo.com/ to get some ideas.

It doesn't matter so much WHAT you ride; it just matters that you ride.

Cars are cool, but f**k the f**kin' f**ks. I dream about a Mustang GT. Ain't gonna happen. I'll probably stick with my 2001 F-150 forever.

Test ride a few machines. I have a S1000XR. It combines the ergs of a GS with the performance of a S-machine. Put that puppy in DYNAMIC mode and take a run through some twisties. She honks, but doesn't whisper in my ear that I'm a pussy when we're under 100 mph.

Hang in. You can only fly an A-12 OXCART for so long before you have to step down to T-38s and F-15s.

Smile Re: Throwing the Towel In

Bruce,
I see the hand doctor for the third time tomorrow! Been in pain since I pulled my business card out of my leather notebook at a meeting several months ago. First shot did no good because the next day I went on a 7300 mile trip, second shot I was more careful and didn't ride much (only one 2K rally), but the shot wore off in about 6-8 weeks, but it never really took. I had constant background pain. Tomorrow we discuss options.

Sad thing is a couple of months ago I bought a red K1300GT with only 1918 miles and was looking forward to riding a K-Bike again.

Regardless of the outcome I'll be in your area at the RA rally, let's do lunch again, I very much enjoyed it.

Ride Safe, Think Fast!
Robert

Never mind Bora Bora I could go to VIR then to Barber - then head to Laguna Seca.

Never mind the tracks, you could spend the winter skiing in the MMonashees!

Iffin you don't have a passport, you could go skiing the Rockies in Colorado.
