A question about options...

I'm new to the forum and to BMW bikes in general, and I have a simple question about options.

If the bike has a button or switch for the option, does that mean the bike does indeed have that option? For example, if there is an ESA button on it, can I safely assume that ESA really is there (understanding, of course, that working order is a separate issue).

I'm shopping Craigslist, Ebay, and forums across the country, and I find a lot of sellers don't list many details. Knowing this will help me pare down the list of who all to call and talk to.

Thanks in advance!

Josh:

Welcome to the site.

If the button or switch is there - then the bike has that function/option. Many handlebar switch gear will have the empty spot if you will where that particular button or switch would be on a model that has it. So the switch gear piece is the same but that hole was not cut out.

Re: A question about options...

The only caveat with your ESA question would be if the owner has installed an aftermarket shock which doesn't utilize that function.

Otherwise the feature is there as Bruce indicated.

Correct so here is the easy way to make sure - take a look - if you don't have the electric motor on the rear shock - one of two things - the ESA was changed out or you bike never came with it and then you should not have the button for it.
