Dakar 2017

As I'm writing this its 0 days, 21 hours, 2 mins, 38 secs to the start!

This event is on my Bucket List.

All we get is a lousy 30 mins of television time between 5:30pm to 6pm WST on SBS which covers all categories. Anyone know how I can stream it, especially during the first week?

Bernardo, any Argentinians, anyone, going to view a stage?

Anyway, the racing will be great (as always) ....

GO TOBY PRICE - for a back-to-back win .... AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE, OI! OI! OI!

Re: Dakar 2017

Watched Toby Price doing the 2016 "Finke," this afternoon. SBS speed week.

After driving a vehicle, hopped into a plane too get back too the start line, too ride his bike.... legendary.

Oh. I didn't think it was that far away.

Because of the time difference (currently 9:45pm WA time, 10:45am Resistencia time), I've downloaded the App and following the race on that. Will check for updates when I wake during the night

Re: Dakar 2017

You seen the x-ray of the break to Toby's leg??

ATM, the highest ranking Aussie is Todd Smith on a KTM. Not bad considering he only knew he was a starter 2 weeks before the start of the race.

Mathew Hart on a Husky is doing pretty good at pos 63 out of 111 finishers at end of Stage 5

Bred tough

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie ... Oi! Oi! Oi!

All we see here in the States on NBCSports channel is a recap mostly of factory riders and drivers..very little about the independents...

Hi Fran

Really is a tremendous road this year.... Stages on Bolivia caused injuries and a lot of abandons, some with very luck like the spectacular accident of the spanish Carlos Sainz or unlucky fall of Toby

Now adding a bad climate and forecast. Really hard

There is the official Dakar channel on Dailymotion. Several languages to choose from and all stages are detailed.

Re: Dakar 2017

As some of you know I am on a trip in South America with my KLR. On the boat crossing to Colombia I met Lyndon Poskitt. During the five day trip and two days in Cartagena getting the bike imported into Colombia I got to hear many great stories from him. He's a high energy guy. I wish him Buena Suerte.

I will not be near any stage of the race. When we got off the boat I followed him from the port back into town. A wild ride indeed! As soon as he serviced his bike he rode directly to Asuncion, Paraguay.

Did you notice how close those spectators came to being hit by Sainz rolling car?

It's a miracle that they got out of that one unscathed!

I looked at it many times unable to understand how could they be running down the slope after the car pulverized whatever was there on the side of the road!
