Daytona 200

I just can't get excited about this race since the AMA, with the help of DMG, completely f*cked up American motorcycle road racing years ago. 600s instead of 1000s, not televised, and now sponsored by American SportBike Racing Association... what the hell is that??

Rant over...

Motorcycle racing specifically road racing here in the US unfortunately is nothing like it is in Europe.

The promoters certainly play a big role in this.

Baseball - Football - NASCAR - these sports are liked as much as American pie.

It would be awesome if motorcycles were introduce to kids like a football helmet and pads are.

Re: Daytona 200

I think they were free streaming it online so you can watch a blurry pic on your phone. That's how bad its gotten.

Fanschoice.tv or something like that.
Please check the address. I don't want to be responsible for linking some Philippine boy/girl escort site.

I think it was this past weekend.

Re: Daytona 200

Yeah, I heard it was being streamed, but that didn't interest me. Danny Eslick won for the third time... that's about all I know of it...

That's certainly true, but there was a time when American road racing produced many world champions... Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz, Nickey Hayden, and others who have been top competitors on the world stage. Sadly, those days seem to be lost... I hope that someday American road racing will be able to dig itself out of the hole that AMA and DMG buried it in...

Couldn't agree more. Recall the racing between Mladin and Spies. Epic!

Re: Daytona 200

Eslick is the 1st (that would be the only), winner to win it on three different machines...Triumph, Suzuki, Yamaha

600's make some sense..lighter, easier to "flick" in the infield, better mileage, easier on tires..
(less pit stops)...

was at least a close finish...not a run away...

other than an endurance event, it's still the longest/furthest M/C race, run on an established circuit (track) ..same machine & rider for the entire distance ...

has been iconic for what, over 50 years??...still one of the most difficult races to win..
