Re: Most expensive Honda CB 750 sold at auction..

A very special and significant motorcycle. I would argue, the most important motorcycle ever produced. We talk about motorcycles that "changed the industry" but I would challenge anyone to show me a more significant bike. And I'm not a Honda guy....lol

Re: Most expensive Honda CB 750 sold at auction..

Does it actually run? ..Have the original tires?? Spark Plugs, chain/sprockets, grips, light bulbs,..etc..etc..etc..If it's not all "Original' & actually runs, then it's nuth'n worth what some tard paid for it..Oh yea..the oil has to be the original also...otherwise it's just the runt of the litter..

...and you think it doesn't I'm sure that it runs better than most bmws on the road today. 20 bucks says it doesn't stall at a stop light. That's a significant piece of machinery right there!!

Re: Most expensive Honda CB 750 sold at auction..

I was working at a local Philly Triumph shop when the CB 750 was first available to a local Honda dealer nearby. During my lunch break I went over and rode one..I said to my self..this bike hands down was way smoother with power to spare and way better braking than the Triumph Trident Triple / BSA Rocket that was available at the time..

Re: Most expensive Honda CB 750 sold at auction..

I had a 1973 Triumph Bonneville 750 - I bought it used in 1976. I thought that bike was absolutely awesome - even with all the quirks - Lucas electrical - base gaskets leaking - clutch cables breaking - just awesome.

Then I saw an ad for the 1977 CB750F in black. I thought it looked pretty cool - headed to the Honda dealer to check it out.

I picked up my black beauty the next day.

At that time I had no intentions of selling my Triumph - of course the 4 cylinder Honda was a powerhouse - but by goodness - no way would I have the same relationship with it like my classic Bonnie 750.

Well I think I rode the Triumph once more before selling it. It just was no match for the Honda except in the looks department but once I got over the looks - the experience was darn near perfect.

I went on to sell Honda's I honestly don't even know how many CB750's I sold.

The CB750 is a legacy motorcycle that literally changed everything.

I have a 1970 sand-cast cases CB-750 pre-K sitting in my garage. Owned it since 1971. It has a hole in the cases from an unfortunate incident with a broken drive chain a few years ago.

Wow have you tried to find an engine? Of course going to be stupid money - or maybe someone has the cases. ebay is your friend.

You might be able to get it welded up. For a sand cast, it might be worth it.
