Which model do you currently own? Part II!

A lot has happened over the past 9 months since Paul (Flyboy) originally posed this question, so, I thought it was time to see where we are now.

I have updated the list to include the newer models and other brands. Have fun!

Before anyone gripes about the order....this IS a BMW K-bike forum, so I listed them first in alphabetical order, current models, then older ones. Then the other BMWs. Then the other brands.

If I forgot a brand/model and you think it shouldn't go in the "Other" category....DON"T VOTE YET....post a REPLY to let me know. Vote AFTER I reply back that I have added that for you or tell you where to stick your vote!

If you chose to vote in the "Other" category....how about a REPLY POST to let us know what you have? Maybe we can include it next time!

It will be fun to compare to the first one. Click here to see the original one!

Re: Which model do you currently own? Part II!

Two questions Randy - I voted for all the bikes I own since the poll allowed for multiple selections. I take it then, that we may vote for multiple bikes?

Where is the tally for the number of riders who have voted?

Re: Which model do you currently own? Part II!

Pat,

Yes, this is a MULTIPLE CHOICE POLL.....check all that you CURRENTLY OWN!

At the very bottom of the POLL, IF you have already voted, it will say "Multiple Choice Poll. Voters: X. You've previously voted in this poll". The X for the Voters is how many individual members have voted, not how many bikes have been voted for!

Charlie, methinks there is a problem with your bikes - they are not able to stay upright! Better get those tires checked!

OK, am I supposed to complain that there is no option for Cannondale? I mean, my poor, much maligned X440 needs love too.

I guess I waited long enough to vote as the add Aprilia comment was handled already

Hi guys:

I blew it! I checked K1200RS, but I did not vote for my R1150GS, or for my Harley. My Harley is a 1950 Panhead chopper, so I don't know how that would fit in.

What a neck'nneck race going on between the KRS and the KS: 55-55. I guess I'm pretty secure having both!

Yeah, everybody should have some old iron to work on, just to keep things real. It's good for the machine, and good for you.

My very first bike was a '53 K-model (Harley). This was a very nasty machine, set up as a desert sled. Bored and stroked, ported and relieved, Sifton cams and "tuned" exhaust. It came with a cardboard box full of parts. I bolted on the headlight and taillight and took off. The machine had zero wiring, except for a magneto and a kill button on the handlebar. Strictly daytime. This was when a 15-1/2 year old kid could get a "learner's permit" in California, and legally ride such a machine.

I can get a K-model "basket-case" for a mere $2,000. Hmmm....

The most noticeable aspect is just the size and weight comparison. The R1 feels like a toy after getting off of the KS...

I hear ya! What's the difference in weight? R1's gotta be around 396lbs or so. Little shorter wheelbase too.

I think mine is lighter than that... it has all the street legal stuff removed... emission stuff, exup, lights, signals, mirrors, etc...

Looks like you are gonna have to update again to add Husqvarna to the list - now that BMW owns them.

The moan talked about all the history and world championships for Husky - but all that was when they were made in Sweden, prior to the mid 80's. Not much has happened since they moved to Italy.

Well, Dick Berliston and I are not riding Huskies any more, what would you expect?

By the way, this is what my bikes look like in the garage. No cars allowed.

Question Re: Which model do you currently own? Part II!

So explain to me why K1200LT owners are treated as the ugly step child locked in the closet away from all to see? I have a 2000 K1200LT 13,000 miles I purchased late last year.I just received an email from this site asking why I haven't visited or posted since last March (2007) when I first found this site.

At that time I posted a question and received several answers, including the fact that i should go to the BMW Luxery Touring site at http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/cmps_index.php? where I would "fit in".

I just want to know why the LT is so ignored on this site.

What gives?

KIC

I do not know who gave you the link to the BMW Luxury Touring Site, but I gather that it was done as a good hint for You. There, you can get the information that you are looking for, while you are the owner of a K1200LT.
Here at "i-BMW.com" we are discussing the more 'sportly' of the K-Series, thats why Our Site has the slogan: "The Ultimate Sport-touring Portal". That do not say that You are not welcomed at our Site, we like to have You as a member if you choose so...and I think that You even could get some valued info here.
We do not have a separate section for the K1200LT, only caused by this do not, in 'our views', come as a Sport Tourer of the K-Series... more as a Pure Tourer. We have not any intensions to treat the K1200LT as an ugly step-child, we simply stay with 'our sport touring models'. Get me?
If You feel that the K1200LT is ignored here, maybe thats the reason someone did give the hint way back. But as above, you are very welcomed to stay and join us.
The e-mail campaign, you are referring above is true, we do that to tell our more infrequent users, 'come on.. we are still here for You if you, want'

Can these polls be made to rotate? Meaning they can be constantly updated by posters? It seems a lot of guys are changing bikes like underwear.

Any way we can go back and modify the poll????

I traded my K1200GT in on a brand new 2007 K1200R Sport two weeks ago.

While we don't have a dedicated forum for the LT (as Kjell has already discussed), why post this question in this thread? The LT is listed as a choice and not ignored in this poll. There are 7 people who have responded that own one. Did you miss it?
