SPOILER - Valencia MotoGP

Sadly the last race of the season and the last race for Lorenzo in Yamaha Blue and he seems determined, at least so far in FP1 and FP2 - practice times below - to leave on a high note. Mika Kallio is debuting the KTM MotoGP bike which should be a full time venture next season Looking forward to a competitive race to close out the season!

Re: SPOILER - Valencia MotoGP

An interview excerpt with Nicky Hayden @ http://superbikeplanet.com/2016/Oct/...ckyhaydeni.htm

Stoner?

"Stoner is the fastest guy I've ever seen in my life, so I could see it on 250 and even when he was a rookie in MotoGP it was clear, but when I went to the first test in Malaysia when we were both on Ducati, I came home and told my brother "That's the fastest guy I've ever seen in my life".

What about Valentino and Marquez?

"Valentino, I think the great thing about him, I was teammates with him in '03 and then many years later, and he is the same guy. With all of his titles and all of his victories, the thing that impressed me the most, of course we know he is talented, but his passion. I think I share that with him. You say I'm 35 and he's 37, I think we both have enough money, could have good lives, but we still love racing bikes, love the sport, and that's what brings me back and that's what I think keeps him going. I get motivation when I see him still winning MotoGP races after everything that he's done and the low at Ducati, to come back".

And what about Marc? Because he looks like the new hero. He's twenty-three...

"Yeah, well, I guess you can ask me after the weekend, but I guess this year we already knew how fast and talented Marc was, but now he's shown how smart he can be and consistent and he added another element to his game to be able to get these podiums".

And what about Max Biaggi?

"Max is a four-time world champ, I mean, for me it was a good challenge, because he's not easy on track or off track, in pit lane, and in the games guys play and for me it was a good experience to be teammates with a guy like that. I had a journalist ask me earlier this year about Van der Mark. He said "Are you worried? He's so fast. Are you worried to have such a fast teammate?" and I said "Well I don't know, I've had a couple of fast ones before - Barros, Biaggi, Stoner, Rossi - maybe you've heard of them. It's not the first time I've had to deal with a strong teammate every day".

All these guys are Superman in leathers. Lorenzo seems to have had a lot of adversity thrown at him in the last three years, the biggest problem was Rossi's return to what should have been "Jorge's Team." Toss in a little rain at 190 miles an hour and stuff happens.

I like his mental strength and he has matured since he had post-race crowd pleasing antics like flag planting and jumping into a pond after a win... send in the lifeguards!

Stoner thinks Lorenzo will learn on the Ducati, it is not the same pile of carbon crap Rossi had issues with. I like his spirit and the desire to trade teams. He rides on a rail and the Duc needs that kind of pilot.

He is focused on this last Yamaha race and I am all for a win, but the Mighty Valentino could be the "Spoiler" and that would hurt... forever.

Re: SPOILER - Valencia MotoGP

As qualifying goes, again that Rossi guy gets back up the ladder after sub-par practices.

If Lorenzo gets another good start, hold on.

MarkiMouth is gonna crash out for three in a row!

What does Vinales think he's doing, he's good, but it is still Vale's campground.

2017 could be the best season since Nicky was Champion.

I have to work tomorrow, Sunday, so I will stay off the net until I can watch the action tomorrow night.

Re: SPOILER - Valencia MotoGP

You know what was most revealing this season?

That aliens don't actually exist but instead were superhumans on superior teams with better electronic packages. Losing the custom electronics package has leveled the field more than anything else and 9 winners emerged from the field.

This was a good championship.

I have a feeling Vinales will show Rossi the door to retirement.

Re: SPOILER - Valencia MotoGP

I think this season has shown us that Ducati and Suzuki have very competitive bikes with the Honda and Yamaha teams. It'll be interesting to see how the rider shuffle plays out in podiums through the year. Lorenzo is kinda temperamental but when he's on, he's nearly unbeatable. Will he click with the Ducati? Will Crutchlow continue to impress? I don't know if Vinales will usher Rossi out - he's good but geez Rossi came in second, only 49 points behind Marquez, and that's after how many DNFs? I think the old guy will be competitive yet and he'll quit when he's ready to move on.
