Battery Choices

What battery does anyone use in their Bike?

And why do they go from 49 to 300? I have used Exide Batteries and found them to be reliable in the past, but even they have several on ebay from 76 to 176.

There is surely a difference between cheating out and being a mug.

Thank. What's so good about them? Their app suggested a pc680.

Ill never understand retail. That battery is listed online for anything from 93-130.

At least that's one job sorted

Re: Battery Choices

I went with a PC680 for my GT because it is supposed to be a better battery. I used universal batteries (UB-1220) for wheelchairs in my '05 R12RT. they lasted a long time.

Re: Battery Choices

The OEM battery lasted about 3 years, The Odyssey is now 7+ years old and still cranks strongly.

It goes on a smart trickle charger every day, even if I think I will ride the next day. When I rode to work every day, it still went on the trickle charger every night.

Plus the bike usually sits from late Oct. till mid March, below 0C , ice and snow makes for poor riding.

Re: Battery Choices

Oddyssey (sp?) PC-680 for me.

Had one when I bought the bike and put in 2753 trouble free miles in two weeks with no trouble. Then shipped it from San Diego California to Honolulu Hawaii, disconnected and inactive for 9 days. On arrival it was irretrievably stone cold dead. Immediately got another for USD150 or so. It better last!

Re: Battery Choices

To try and cure the Hot start issue with my ole K1300GT I went with the Odyssey 680. Install was easy even though I had to shim the Odyssey because it was slightly smaller in size. Did it solve the problem? No. Did it last longer? No. 11 months into service and it suffered a shorted cell. I had to pack up the battery and send it back to the retailer. Yes it was replaced but I was out shipping costs. I would spend the money and go OEM or Interstate.
