heat related left switch failure

Is there a permanent replacement solution regarding the heat related copper film connection failure on left-hand handlebar switches?
Perhaps there is someone who rebuilds them properly?
The most current i have read is a two year warranty on a new switch if installed at BMW,
which is way not good enough; for the hundreds of dollars they charge.

Re: heat related left switch failure

I had mine replaced by the dealer at no charge even though the bike was otherwise out of warranty. Twice.

Yes, good idea to check if dealer will honor the recall/warranty of this widely known issue.

Re: heat related left switch failure

Agree, there was a recall on these, check with your dealer.

Re: heat related left switch failure

I had the right cluster replaced 2 times, left 3 times then the recall and they replaced both of them. I was not having any problems with last set, yet. But the left one replaced under recall failed in 4 months. The hood lock out on cruise broke. Replaced and sold the 1300GT

Re: heat related left switch failure

Thank you to those who suggested going to the dealer.
They replaced both switches under warranty after almost 10 years,
which to me is remarkable.
