K1300S Wide Angle Mirrors

Most agree that the K1300S mirrors leave something to be desired. I find the mirror extensions blocks to be ugly. Found these online:
http://www.mfw-wolf.de/de/Spiegelgla...ks-Modelliste3
Problem is, is that Twisted Throttle is MFW's distributor in the USA, and has been unresponsive regarding special ordering them-they don't carry this product. Is there a member here in Germany that I can PayPal funds to, to order them and ship them to me in Louisiana, USA. TIA!

UPDATE: Twisted got back to me (it's been three working days) and will special order. Shafted me on price a bit, but the manufacturer essentially ignored my request to sell direct. Six (6) weeks to get them, so I'll see how this works in November!

Re: K1300S Wide Angle Mirrors

I didn't like the price either, but I have some sort of clear overspray on parts of the bike, including the faces of the mirrors. Which is curious, because with the exception of one small repaired nick on the right side fairing all the paint is original. White polishing compound is taking care of the plastics. After trying everything up to and including lacquer thinner for the mirror faces, I tried a straight edge razor blade. Wrong answer-the glass is so soft that the (new) blade put fine scratches on it. The OEM replacement glasses are $68.94 EACH. I thought this would kill two birds (visibility and overspray) with one stone. That's where it got funky. 85 EURO is $101.81 USD. Less 19% VAT would be $82.47. To special order them (Twisted does not stock THIS particular MFW part), I was "allowed" to pay $111.90 shipped with 6 weeks lead time. Cheaper than OEM but not by much.

Makes sense in your situation. Good information on Twisted Throttle too. Thanks.

Just noticed you're in the Tampa area. Bought the bike from a guy in New Port Richie mid July and had it shipped to New Orleans. 2015 Motorsport Edition with 752.0 miles and still in warranty. Got lucky!

Re: K1300S Wide Angle Mirrors

I probably would have paid that much, since they will fit perfectly. I installed a rectangular convex mirror (on left hand side), which works pretty well after I got used to it.

Re: K1300S Wide Angle Mirrors

In a word yes. A little tricky to install though. They send you a small tube of adhesive that I didn't think was sufficient, so I used clear RTV and ran a bead all the way around the inside surface about 1/2" from the edge. Used their adhesive in the centers. Properly aligning them to the OEM mirrors is also somewhat difficult since the thin replacement glass is curved and only contacts the existing mirror in a couple of places. And cleaning the adhesive that squeezed out the edges was a PITA. Left them attached with painters tape for a day or so and all was good. Just need to take your time. They do really help seeing behind you! RECOMMEND.

FYI... we deal with Twisted Throttle on a daily basis... If anyone wants a pair of these, PM me and I'll check into it.... I like to do at least one good deed a year...

Pirate-you might consider carrying MFW-Wolf's products. They're high quality and they make the convex mirror overlays for a LOT of the bikes. FWIW.

Re: K1300S Wide Angle Mirrors

One other thing. If you choose to go the clear RTV route that I did (recommended), bear in mind that once the RTV cures, the overlays are NEVER coming off or moving. After I got them firmly taped in the proper position with painters tape, I used 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (P/N 08984) to remove the uncured silicon. Expensive at better than $10/quart, but it is the BEST solution for removing this sort of stuff and will not damage painted surfaces. Generally need to source it from someplace that sells to body shops. Never have really found it at the corner auto parts stores.

Oh no, 3M adhesive cleaner is the best, well worth it. A can lasts for more than 5 years in a personal garage. Has many uses and absolutely does not do damage to paint.

Sorry you misunderstood, that's why I called it a lesser cousin. I use both.

Re: K1300S Wide Angle Mirrors

Sorry for the delay.. I've had some sort of bronchial virus from Krypton that's been kicking my ass.

OK.. My Twisted rep just checked in on the mirrors... They do carry the brand, but do not carry their mirrors but I can get them as special order items. They say approximately 6-8 weeks to arrive here in the States.

MFW.023021202 (Left side) 55.95
MFW.023021201 (Right side) 55.95

add $15 shipping per pair

These are the blue tint. Part numbers appear to be the same for the K1300S and K1200S.... Total for the pair shipped to your door (inside the US) $126.90

I'll probably place a one time order
this coming Friday the 27th for my fellow I-BMW deplorables... Anyone interested.. PM me.
