Bent Rim

I quite enthusiastically embraced a pothole the other day. All sorts of things flew off, rear brake extension, rear brake linkage etc. Unfortunately, I also put a bend in my front rim (and my pride).
There is a shop in Chicago that will straighten rims but I am hesitant about that. Does anyone have any engineering opinions about getting these rims straightened, or am I better off consulting e-bay?

Thx

Re: Bent Rim

Depending upon how severely the rim is bent, a competent wheel shop can effectively straighten out a wheel without too much compromise. I've had a wheel or two straightened in the past and am still here to talk about it.

Re: Bent Rim

This guy did my front and rear 2008 Triumph 675 magnesium rims that the insurance said were unfixable and gave me $1100 for new rims. Cut out the bent section, welded new metal and blended repair, $350 for both wheels. Came out perfect and color match was spot on.
