Anyone experience this?

Pretty sure it's normal, just want conformation it's nothing. Only a few miles on my 13S, 8k, rode into the city ( San Francisco) yesterday to have lunch with my son. Traffic leaving the city was terrible going to the bridge. Even splitting traffic, which was at times too tight for even that, took half an hour to go to the bridge and over. Constant slipping clutch, stop and go, letting out the clutch at times it shuttered. Once traffic opened up all was normal. Just thinking the clutch got hot.

That is not unusual. Mine did that when it was new in exactly the same conditions. It occurs when you gear down at very low speeds/rpms while the engine is lugging. The simplest thing is not to do that. I am not sure if my bike after 17,000 km still does that or I have changed my habits.

Re: Anyone experience this?

Traffic is hell on a K bike. It just does not like it. Especially the K1200's.

Thanks for the conformation Mike. I feel better . That's what I thought. She didn't shutter if I just gave it a few more revs. Just got stuck in really heavy traffic and yes lugging and slipping in n out of 1st. Sometimes it's unavoidable.

Phil:

My bike has 10K miles on it and today going through Woodstock, NY bumper to bumper traffic for a mile or so mine did it everytime I took off. Is it normal - well they do it - is it right no.

Unavoidable.... , more than clutch, is the hot oil, don't forget is a wet clutch and viscosity is fundamental to maintain the good work.
