New Arrow Dark Aluminium slip on muffler

To give my Red K1300R the aural punch that it deserves, I ordered a new Arrow Dark Aluminium slip on muffler with mid pipe (no cat).

It arrived today and I fitted it this evening. Photos below.

I left the dB killer and did not disable the exhaust flapper by removing the cable from the servo motor. Should i?

I havnt even started it yet, hoping to go for a spin tonight.

Looks great too I reckon. Really happy with this outcome.

Thanks for letting me copy/paste your thread doctor360. Photos strangely similar to yours.

Genuine 400year old Fukkari rug in the exhaust changeover camp site

Arrow Mid pipe

Original pipe weighs 6.5kg, Arrow weighs 2.5kg

Re: New Arrow Dark Aluminium slip on muffler

But seriously, there was some pissing around needed, bit of metal work and alignment, seems to clear the pannier nicely.
Thanks to John and Ken Healy for letting me ring and quiz you guys.
Pictures below

This bracket needs modification

Get the heat shield where you want it and mark for drilling

And chop it a bit

This didnt seem to sit right, so more grinding

seems to clear the pannier nicely

Stealing my words is fine. I stole Heapy's puncturing a nurse joke.

Can't believe you haven't started it. Like Smoggy suggests, take the dB killer out, you can always put it back in. It's not like a baby.

Now the question is whether to paint or not to paint... the heat shield

By the way, nice fukkari rug

Re: New Arrow Dark Aluminium slip on muffler

Just went for a short ride, sounds farrkkknnn awesome, particully 4-7k rpm.
Engine seems to love it too, idle, gear change seems slightly more positive.
I swear i can feel the 3.5kg weight loss when changing direction.
Anyway, very nice, merry xmas me.

Cheers

It looks great, Mat... and as one member mentioned, I would suggest painting the heat shield with some high temperature black to complete the look...

Kiwi Matt: Based on what I saw & heard here previously, I finally got around to ordering an Arrow titanium muffler & mid pipe from BikeBiz Parramatta & fitted it today. Delivery was 3 weeks, straight forward fit, no adjustments or bracket cutting needed although I don't have panniers.

Quite a bit louder than my old Remus Revolution Carbon can & excellent quality unit all round.

Appreciate you taking the time to outline your experience (with photos).

Re: New Arrow Dark Aluminium slip on muffler

Keep the flapper, helps with low end torque and engine running. It is wide open in upper RPM anyway and makes no difference there. Looks great. Seems nothing is direct fit. That 3.5 kg. can be invested into beer now.

Well prices have gone up a bit from 3 years ago, even the mid pipe costs an arm & a leg now.

What the hell it's only money.

As an experiment I reconnected the flapper cable. Quietened it right down around town & a definite torque increase as predicted.

Going for a blast on Wednesday so we'll see how it pulls.
