My 03 k1200gt

Hello....bought an 03 k1200 by with 6k on the clock. Only 6 thousand miles....looks sparkly fresh.

Coming off a 92 k100 rs with only 16k when I bought her....sold her, felt TERRIBLE and bought the 03.

Anyways, the 1200 has truckloads more giddyup...can't to wrong with these engines i think.

Look forward to lurking and learning.

Cheers

question for the collective cognoscenti....is that the original stock windshield? i dunno....it's a (bit) short for me....was wondering if anyone has had success with the parabellum 25" option....

Yes, that is the original windshield. I changed mine for the RS version, which was shorter.

YES , this is Stock / Factory windshield for a K1200GT (2003-2005).

The K1200RS of the same period had a lower windshield with no curve / lip on top. With this lower windshield, most riders get more "clean" direct airflow above shoulder and a LOT less turbulence and noise around helmet - however it is a bit more chilly in colder climate.

I was using the lower one in hot summer days and the higher one in colder fall weather - the swap only takes 10 minutes. See attached photo for K1200RS model ....

That is the stock GT screen, described by BMW as the "Comfort" screen. I run the MRA Vario spoiler on mine, works well to give you that little bit extra:

Re: My 03 k1200gt

I put a Laminar Lip on my stock 04'GT windshield. Greatly reduced the wind noise.

Welcome to I-bmw!

Best site there is!

Nice find that 03... Especially with such low mileage...

How much did you pay for it?

Re: My 03 k1200gt

Welcome.

I never cared for the stock windscreen either, and ended up buying several until I got one that worked for me. I have a virtually perfect Aeroflow "sport windscreen from my 2003, that I keep meaning to list here in the classifieds. I don't believe they still makes windscreens for the older bikes any more.

I went on one ride with it, and while it was very quiet and better than any other the other big screens, I found that I preferred the smallest stubby screen to keep more air on me (it's hot where I live).

Anyway, if you are interested in the aeroflow, shoot me a PM :-)

Re: My 03 k1200gt

Best/cheapest windscreen for hot weather is an old cut down OEM.Cut down to the height of the hand protectors and painted black.

Too bad that I had to remove it and re-install the GT screen.Protection from the elements and flying rock chips that I am sure will encounter up there.
