R1100s Mirrors on a 04 K1200GT

Interested in putting the faring mounted mirrors on a '04GT and looked a the Verholen option, pair is $350 which includes the mounting backing plate and comparing that to just purchasing a new set of R1100s mirrors which I do not believe comes with a internal mounting bracket/back-up plate but does include the rubber gasket. The R1100s mirrors are $95 each so there would be a decent saving going that route.

Has anyone used the R1100s mirrors and made their own backing plate? Advice one way or the other? Occasionally have seen some used R1100s mirros for $100 a pair so may get lucky on eBay or beemer bone yard.

Also, any opinion on how the new K1200S mirrors would fit to a '04GT......I really like those mirrors and on a test ride they were very effective with the rimless design and of course the integration of lighting was cool as well.
