Re: Indicators

I think they cancel after 10seconds or 200m.

Hi Di, welcome

In this thread you have a lot of replies on this subject, as you will see many of them are funny jokes

"Self canceling turn signals..So how DO they work?" http://www.i-bmw.com/showthread.php?t=429

My opinion (post # 148)

My experience in Both K1300R:

Stopped: never cancel (you can try when warming)
In motion until 80Km/h, 200 meters.
More than 80 Km/h 15 times, if you need more distance simply keep pushed the lever, then add 15 times more.

Ok I see theres been lots of fun about these indicators or "Flashers" my ones only seem to self cancel when turning right and not left, I can understand this so cars wont pull out in front of you, but why is there no mention in the handbook about this

Flashers or turn lights are no related with turning or leaning the bike, at least on these bikes

Re: Indicators

Where they turn off is dependant on how far before the turn you activate them. You may be activating them a short distance before the corner meaning that they will stay flashing longer after the corner. If you can, try not to manually cancel and see if they will in fact turn off.

Re: Indicators

Wow, this question lives on and on and on. Yes, they self cancel. And, OMG, Really, one can push in the signal switch and that will turn it off. Really, push the button in manually????? How intuitive.

Re: Indicators

Ok after trying the bike indicators for sometime now they still have a mind of thier own, so at the last Dealer visit I had the self-cancelling turned OFF !!! and I feel much better thank you! They didnt charge me for doing this as they already had the computer pluged in fitting my new left switch

Obviously you can turn them off when you want, but the problem with them is that they turn off when you want them to stay on, and you can't "reset" the timer by just another left/right flick of the switch - you either have to wait 'till they stop or manually stop and restart. Pain in the arse.

Re: Indicators

Wow I'm glad someone got to the bottom of this as it was causing me to avoid turns altogether.

Kinda like when I ride to work and the bike is approaching the turn off to the Parking Lot...it just keeps wanting to go straight past.

I say we go back to semaphores...uh...yellow with chrome trim that is.
