Still Rumours, but.......K1300S 2009 ?

We will all need to take some time to get this confirmed, but...Still rumours of BMW K1300S 2009...

Found this searching The Net:

MAJOR INFORMATION RELEASE about the K1300S, K1300R and K1300GT

This was sent to me anonymously by someone who works for BMW, somewhere on the planet.

I have some more info on the new models, went through the bikes in more detail:

The bikes will have a 1292cc engine, in what appears to be the same chassis/frame, and the same duolever front end. The end can is slightly different, slightly hexagonal at the very end of it. Same headlight unit, and now with LED rear lights and indicators. All new switchgear, including new indicator switches. The bike will also have a quickshifter as a factory option and a new ESA 2, also as a factory option. Also has a new pillion grabrail.

The R gets similar treatment, a very similar headlight unit, only more recessed into the front of the bike. Very similar tank panels to the existing model, and same options/features as the S.

The GT sees a bit more change, it gets a new vent/panel on the side fairing, to help break up the slabsided nature of the previous model. Its actually a little like the new design on the side of the new 7 Series. Makes the bike look much better though! Again, just slight styling tweaks throughout. They have also made the pillion seat comfort on all bikes, especially the R.

Re: Still Rumours, but.......K1300S 2009 ?

We're about 7 days from the official press release according to Shiva.
Intermot starts just after that.

The latest is it's a 1340cc lump! That's a HUGE displacement increase.

Edit- BTW, that 1340 number was from the german? mag Motorrad.

Agreed. Not sure about the side panels though. Looks "slab sided" more like the current GT...even with the vent. Also, the front pod looks like an afterthought since it's so seperated.

With this pic...except for the rear...it's not a homerun to me.

The fairing's a butt ugly mess. I'd take the 1200 any day, regardless of the motor.

Re: Still Rumours, but.......K1300S 2009 ?

I sent an email to someone with this link explaining how I really am interested when the K1300 comes out, this is the response I got...

" F**k yea..1340cc?? 140cc increase? Is that so you can outrun an F18 instead of just an F16???? Or are they after the magic 200hp figure?"

Heh.

I have to agree with you on that... it kind of resembles the fairing on an R1200RT... freakin' hideous...

Just today talked to a sales guy at Ridewest BMW about the 1300. Couldn't confirm or deny awaiting something concrete from corporate. Told him to let me know as soon as anything becomes official as I will probably buy one from him.

as an original RS (99 Red) who thought they didnt do that bike any favors with the update, I once again find myself thinking I will just keep my 05 KS instead of "upgrading" if this is what it looks like (unless there are some real benifits that arent apparent)

Once again...if the bike looks like this pic, I sure won't be tempted into being another BETA tester!

They ruined the look of the rt a few years ago and it looks like there trying to mimic the same look in the fairing. Maybe theres a push on to market it in China.

According to 2 posters on the Euro-K Club forum who supposedly saw actual photos this is just speculation and was photoshopped. Who knows? I think it looks pretty good.

I am looking forward to next Tuesday to see what my next bike will really look like. I traded the 2005 S for a GS last month with the intention of getting the new K, unless it s a major rework. (I will never beta test for BMW again.)

if the pictures are accurate i like the tail redesign but the fairing looks retarded in my opinion. i'm not to fond of the way the front fairing sticks out either but in the end i will really have to see it in person before passing final judgement. i didn't like the styling of the KS when it first came out either.

Looks like we have concensus.....the rear is great, the front is butt-ugly photo shop. It sure wouldn't tempt me regardless of the power.

Agreed, hopefully for BMW's sake lot's of people will like it though. I prefer the styling, in side views of the K1200S and am not feeling the love of the new seperated headlight cowling and aesthetics.

I do like the idea of the seat redesign after having my fuggin nutz cracked once too often two up. The current passenger is sitting on a forward sloping seat which helps with the acceleration (with no backrest available) but grows tiresome after a few hours. I know Tim and Susan have done serious distances on theirs , but it just doesn't work for me and mine.

The good looking thing in this thread is Wellcrafts avatar....

The picutre here is surely not the thing that will get shipped, but it is ugly. The thing is a jap looking wanabe. Liekly targeted at the hyabusa and ZX crowds.

I am open to the BMW shock changes, but some are good and some are not.

Very nice. First thing I'd do if I had to have one of those would be to order up a set of '08 body panels. Mebbe I'd get 'em in primer, and I'd take 'em to Russ of Custom Classics in Enumclaw and have them painted in tie dye.

Mine either. She's OK for short distances but she's just too tall to be comfortable for long on it. At least the pillion position isn't as extreme as it is on true sportbikes. But, I think the principal use of a K/S is for solo work...and it's great at that!

Naw, that's what we have the Duc's for . The KS feels like a big (and heavy) comfy couch when solo . After about 400 miles on the Duc, when I get back on the KS and back it up, I find myself going "beep", "beep", "beep". Love her though, fat girls are fun to ride.
