superbowl

I'm working on a maple/mahogany coffee table today, all day. Am I the only one around who is not enamored with football? I mean really, is this "game" that important to your life? I was in town yesterday and it seems that's all everybody was talking about. I don't get it.

Won't be on in my house.
Though I do like to see the big boys in tight pants, I'd rather play most any sport than watch it.

I know where Burt is gonna be! Gloria and I will be in a bar in Greensboro that has 61 different beers on tap. In reality it is the headquarters for the Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Club of the Triad but for today, the Black and Gold we'll be rootin' for come from Nawlin's.

Re: superbowl

Hey, we only get broadcast of the one big game here. The rest of the season nada.

Gotta take advantage of it.

Unfortunately the game starts at midnight our time and runs until 4.00 a.m. But seeing as I'm home sick with the flu anyway, it's not like I have much to do tonight or tomorrow anyway.

We're fooball fans in my house for sure! Bummer that Brett and the Vikes didn't make it so it's more about the food and the commercials for me.

It does give me the chance to break out the smoker again!! Here's a little taste of this year's menu....

Not here. It seems most of the talk, pre game and post game is mostly about the ads. They are more interesting than the game itself.

Kinda like the Oscars show, overblown and way toooo long.

Yeah, I thought the same thing - how can one get into it if its not 'your' team right?
Until I turned it on @ the gym and later @ home - was an excellent, fun game - best part? Watching the Colts go away

Which really, really sucked this year. The Google ad was cute, other than that really, really lame.

We watched the game and enjoyed it. I think this was the third game we watched this season. Karen was born in Tennessee but lived in Indiana so she was rooting for the Colts - mainly because she likes Peyton Manning. I was for the Saints for the whole "underdog" thing.

I enjoy the athleticism and the technical aspect. That catch during the two-point conversion was a thing of beauty.

The Dorito one at the beginning was cute: (slap) "Keep your hands of my momma and

Even I could see that was good, he caught the ball, it crossed the goal line and THEN
it was kicked out of his hands.

Overall, the last few years have had some weak commercials. GoDaddy always has the eye candy, but they aren't that great of ads.

I had already seen the Google one on the web. Funny how Eric Schmidt kept denying that Google even had an ad.

I like the Hyundai one with Brett Farve and the Doritos Bark Collar one, both in the 2nd quarter - http://www.cbssports.com/video/playe..._gads_txl_0002

This one, found on a blogger's site mocking the Quebec version of MTV was also top notch even though, a tong in cheek wink at the Google ad.

Click here for the FAQ section on how to add in pictures. The number one problem is trying to upload an image that is too large...you don't need anything about an 800X600 size to look stellar on a website/forum! If you still need help, PM me!

FYI, your two attempts are simply a URL that takes us to a Windows LIVE log-in page. For it to be a valid image file, it will need to end in a valid file extension such as ".jpg"

Is it "important"? No, but it is fun for a lot of people, and what's wrong with that? Every year I hear people make statements like yours. I wonder if they have so much "important" things to do, why are they wasting time complaining about the superbowl?

Come on, not a life or death situation here. It's a game and one that brings lots of people together for an excuse to view something enjoyable and to eat and drink together. I don't think harley75 was complaining, only pointing out that this isn't HIS idea of fun. To each their own. Those who garnered great enjoyment from the afternoon are enriched, those who didn't find other pleasurable pursuits. No harm, no foul - life goes on kids.

Re: superbowl

Here is a picture of the superbowl party at our base in Kosovo. Note the number of uniforms that are not American. The guys in greyish cammo are US in field uniforms plain grey US PT uniforms, green is Polish, Ukrainian German or Greek.

The game was on from about 0030 to 0400 local here. We were not allowed to see the commercials.

Here is one of the LA Rams Cheerleaders who visited us that day.

he is a much better drummer than his father... The duo of Pete and Roger were horrific... everyone was like WTF?

The commercials were not to the standard of previous years.. maybe its the economy???

The game was not close once the Saints got on track... remarkably clean too...

Re: superbowl

I had a grand day working in the shop listening to Dire Straits. The table is almost finished, a gift to a daughter. I'll try to post a pic later.

If football gets you off, hooray! I just don't understand the people who act like it's the end of the world if their team doesn't drink blood. They raise the importance of a game to an unbelievable level. I wasn't that excited when I got married... maybe that's why she left.

That was just the mastery of restraint. He had a few flourishes here and there when called for. Mr Daltrey though, might have been better in character as the much loved Hugh Fitzcairn to which his former rock stage antics seemed to morph into later in his career.

Manning walks to the locker room before the game ends.
What a class act...for a turd.
And oh yeah it was everyone elses fault that they lost except his.
Typical Manning (excluding all the others) a brilliant QB but with no sportsmanship.
No I have no idea why I watched his sports news conference.
Congrats to the rest of the Colts team for a fine season and to Champion Saints.
Most watched TV program in history, they blew away the final MASH episode.

I should have watched closer, I didn't see that... just a sure sign of a sore loser... it is usually nice to see the QB's and other players congratulating each other.

Somewhere a True Believer is training to kill you. He is training with minimal food or water, in austere conditions, training day and night. The only thing clean on him is his weapon and he made his web gear. He doesn't worry about what workout to do - his ruck weighs what it weighs, his runs end when the enemy stops chasing him. This True Believer is not concerned about 'how hard it is;' he knows either he wins or dies. He doesn't go home at 17:00, he is home.
He knows only The Cause.

Still want to quit?"
