What model do you own?

It would be interesting to see which BMW mtorocycles our members own. I set the poll for multiple choices.

Re: What model do you own?

My black '02 RS is a typical BMW. It tries to drain my wallet of all its money and spend it on accessories. So far the bike has a Zenon headlight, PIAAs under the oil cooler, V1 with shelf from Pirate, XM radio, trim rings on the instruments, a waterproof accessory plug, Russell Day Long Saddle, AP1 fuze block, BMW LED flashing stop light, and Bitubo shocks.

I have stopped putting money in my wallet when I'm around the bike in fear it will know I've got more.

You should have a second poll for which model you DO NOT currently own, but want.

BMW model that is... not something like the Agusta F4.

I'm sure I'd lose my license too - but it would be a great ride in the meantime.

Re: What model do you own?

I was at my local (and only) BMW motorcycle dealer today for new tires (Metzeler z6's) and tried hard to fall for the S. I sat on it, looked at it from every angle, granted I didn't ride it (no demo) and I just couldn't get that "I gotta have that" feeling. I'm kind of into esthetics, and I still feel that my red rs looks better. Now, if I'd had a chance to actually ride the beast.... maybe the rs would now be in the dealers used bike inventory.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Some guys just can't come to grips with the fact, that with the new line up. The RS now stands for REALLY SLOW in K bike designations.

Richie?? The color is close to that gray/green GT...and it has the leg fairings....hmmmm....maybe there is more to the scooter comparison than previously thought!

Richie,

I don't think anyone here is trying to say that the old RS is faster than ANY of the 3 new K-series...not only do they have a higher performance engine, they have less weight and handle better. No arguments. Period.

What CAN be discussed are the subjective things such as the looks, functionality (for one rider vs. another and the intended use - Touring, Two-up, etc.), bang for the upgrade dollar (in other words, is it worth it for some?) and, of course, emotional feelings about one vs. the other.

This even applies to the old RS vs. GT....from a subjective points there are many things to discuss. Many like one color scheme vs. the other. Some like the taller windshields, hand guards and leg fairings while some NEED the above because they are pussies.

Others feel they have to protect their manhood by claiming one model is faster than the other and can't accept the reality that they are basically identicle bikes when it comes to engine and suspension. This is NOT subjective and not arguable. GRIP THAT FACT!

Remember that "GT" stands for "Geezer in Tow"!

Onward and upward. Loved the RS, but not in the same league as the S. It is only a matter of time before y'all are assumed into the collective. Buy it...love it...live it.

Nice to see a ray of reality sneaking in!!
What CAN be discussed are the subjective things such as the looks
sure the RS looks like a fat outdated bike
, functionality
the RS functions like a fat outdated bike
bang for the dollar
someone has to take these old fat worn out bikes off the hands of those seeing the light

Many like one color scheme vs. the other.
Puke green was a nice touch

Some like the taller windshields, hand guards and leg fairings while some NEED the above because they are pussies.
Goldwings were made for pussies
Remember that "GT" stands for "Geezer in Tow"!

thought with the prevalent puke color it stood for Green Turd

Good looking bike. Doesn't need a flashy paint job to make up for any short comings.

So now we have cleared up the fact that the 'ol RS is not only the most popular, but the most versatile, good looking etc.....
..The question becomes.... How many are loving the new K1200RS(port) as much as I am :banana santa: ..... spiritual successor????? or WTF?

Re: What model do you own?

key word old, now look to how many are in use here compared to number of years in production (a much different view) and the New R Sport ought to be a great bike for those that cant handle the KS's extra HP and want a power restricted version.

One can spin the numbers any which way they choose to see a different outcome.

With 155 votes in out of 1190 views along with 4074 members, I'm interested in seeing the number of actual bike owners compared to the number of site users. This would mean more to me than one particular model over another.

But the fact remains...the RS/GT is the foundation of this site .

Re: What model do you own?

When I first joined this site I had a 98 K1200rs Taxi. I thought I loved it, but over time the riding position and heavy weight got to be too much for my old body. I tried to overcome everything by adding bar backs and a front peg lowering kit. After a while it was still too much for my carpel tunnel and arthritic lower back to handle.
I used to wonder what BMW put in everyones coolaid to make them ride a G/S, then in 2007 I took one for a test ride on a twisty road and was hooked! I traded in the Krs and bought the new(07)G/S. This is my fourth BMW and I'm IN LOVE!(although I wish I had my 89 K100rsa back with the G/S) My wrist problem dosen't bother me and niether does my lower back. I STILL have a bike I can ride on a twisty road(even keeping up with sport bikes in the kinks)PLUS I have a bike I can add an Aeroflow screen to and take across counrty in total comfort! OH and did I mention the part of being able to ride the dirt again?? For ME this is the PERFECT beemer!

This poll was supposed to be CLOSED as we have had a newer version running for quite some time - http://www.i-bmw.com/showthread.php?t=10215

I am not sure how it was resurrected, but, please vote and comment in the above link!

Thank you!
