SPOILER - Assen MotoGP

It's time for Assen, will the sun shine or will the rain fall, FP1 & FP2 are complete, here's the run down, can anyone stop Lorenzo, or has Marquez had enough? Has Vinales found his mojo - look at the times, maybe so? Will Zarco break through? Crutchlow anyone? Or is there a dark horse out there?

Hopefully the race will be a good one and Rossi can pull a rabbit out of his hat, again! Practice times follow below.

Re: SPOILER - Assen MotoGP

So, exciting pole qualifying, MM gets his 75th pole, but closely followed by Crutchlow and Rossi who had an exciting FP4, and was sitting in 11th place until the final lap. 1/10th separates the top 10, wow,

Re: SPOILER - Assen MotoGP

Amazing race. Really impressed with the way Rins got in there and mixed it up with MM.

Best race of the year with some great saves. I kept thinking when are these guys going to figure out what Rossi is doing to them in the chicane? He seemed to pass with impunity there.

Re: SPOILER - Assen MotoGP

Best race of the year!

I love how race direction investigated Rins for his non-contact with MM but nothing was said when MM retaliated. Anyone else surprised by that?

Great race best one this year. Race control seems to pick and choose what they will act on.

Re: SPOILER - Assen MotoGP

Cool race.

Strange no one seemed to want or have the pace to break away. Lorenzo seemed to slow the pace so that back markers were catching up at various points in the race.

Rossi was in contention until he was pushed wide by Dovi. I think he had the pace to keep in front of Vinales and Rins, but who knows. Rossi was very cool to Dovi at the end of the race even though Dovi seemed to be a bit perturbed.

What a brake check Lorenzo did on Rossi earlier! it's amazing Rossi didn't go down.

That was fun. Let's do it again next week!!!

You did miss a good one. Watch it now if you can. This is the first race in a long time that you didn't actually know who was going to be on the podium for the first 23 laps or so. There were so many passes and if a rider made the smallest error, they could find themselves 3 places back! It was awesome.

Re: SPOILER - Assen MotoGP

Indeed the best race of the season. The Rossi / Lorenzo contact was a "holy shit" moment, that neither crashed is amazing. That Marquez was half off his bike at another point and saved it, again, was remarkable. And did I hear the announcers correctly, that when Rossi took the lead for a short stretch it was the first time this season that the factory Yamaha team bikes lead a race? Hardly seems possible.

Yet, I said it a couple of races ago, go ahead, award Marquez the championship and send him home for the rest of the season, so that there can be a little more suspense for the rest of the field for the season. It seems to me that he just toys with the rest of the field and then decides to use top gear and goes and hides.

Anyway here's the score card,

That's the best race in years and I agree with cjs350 as far as MM is concerned he has stated before that he likes to put on a show for the fans.

The fact that when Maverick helped MM run ride and went back to about 4 or 5 , it seemed no problem to get back to the front and say im getting out of here. I think they were all happy to stay as a group til the end the way the wind was!!
