call me crazy

Well I said my drag racing days were done but I guess not. Decided to give it one last try Wednesday at test and tune night. Went to our local 1/8th mile track and ran my HD Superglide. I got 5 runs in of which the last two were keepers. Best run was a 6.98 at 103 MPH which is hauling azz for a street Harley. Last two runs were within .02 sec and 1 MPH. Not bad for a 75 year old senior citizen who hasn't raced for 4 to 5 years.

Now you have to take the K1300S next time for comparison purposes.

Not this year maybe after March 2019 when I will turn 76. I am going to take the HD to a test & tune at a 1/4 mile 2 Saturdays from now though.

Way to go! There is no age limit on fun.

Now take a look at that stretched chain (from a former Superglide owner ).

Re: call me crazy

Very cool indeed. I don't drag race but I do get to open track days with my RR and R3. I'm not your age but I really hope I can still get to the track when I am.

How old we are numerically is one thing - which for me means nothing - all about how I feel and what I'm doing - I do hope the numbers keep increasing though.

Re: call me crazy

Thanks guys, going back to the 1/8 mile Wednesday night. With more practice I hope to improve my times and MPH. I really had a problem last time with the Barnett clutch engaging over to small a span on the clutch lever. Makes it very hard to feather the clutch out of the hole. Result was lousy 60ft times. I am installing a new Barnett lock up clutch today which I hope will improve the 60ft times. Next Saturday if the weather holds and I get the clutch adjusted properly I am going to a 1/4 mile track in BG KY for further practice.

Reason for not running the K1300 until late next spring is I have to have my right hip replaced first. Scheduled for after Thanksgiving. The K1300 is going to require me to have no physical limitations to race if I can still do it at all.
