need valve buckets

I am adjusting the valves on my 2004 K1200RS and I don't think they have ever been done to this bike, I bought it with 30,000 miles on it and now it has 40,000 miles on it. The bike has been backfiring a lot for the past year and while checking the valves I found 4 intake that are too tight and I need 4, 2.90mm valve buckets. If anyone has extras around they would like to sell I would love to have a chance at buying them. I live in the Pittsburgh, PA area so hoping someone here in the US would have some and the shipping cost would be reasonable. Please message me if you could help out. Thanks Ray

Re: need valve buckets

I'll look at what I have, might be able to help.
My first adjustment I needed 7 & had to buy em from max, there were several 290s.

Re: need valve buckets

ECS Tuning may have them for a reasonnable price? $18.xx each and free shiping on orders over $49.00?

https://www.ecstuning.com

I say may .....ordered 2.75s from them last week.Last message from them was yesterday and back ordered. And they don't know when they'll get them in.

I do have some 2.90s.You could have them for a very reasonnable price and I'd ship from the US.But all depends on ECSTuning,I have to wait for them to show up (if ever) at my US mailbox before I drag myself down there and pick up my shims and other parts.

I won't ship/receive anything in Canada these days, postal workers were legislated back to work last week.Working to rules so dragging their feet.

Re: need valve buckets

I chatted with them electronicly and the fellow would not confirm it is the proper part, 11 32 7 666 050, if you could confirm when you get yours I would then be able to order what I need minus any you may have available to sell.

Re: need valve buckets

Right part number I'd think and website description is right. But do they actually have them in stock? No 2.75 for me....!

I'd have 3 x 2.90s but only 2 good ones.Big red X is the bad one.You can see the corrosion pit at 4 o'clock. And one more on the side.Came with a bunch of shims I bought many years ago for cheap. The two good ones were from my bike and stored ever since in a baggie with oil.So careful if you find used ones, they may not have been stored properly and considering that they have some sort of plating on them,I wouldn't want that to flake and score my/your cam.

I'd sell you them two good ones.Around 20usd/both depending on shipping cost from WA.Not sure when I can go down there,I was hoping for next week but all depends on ECS....I might just cancel that order anyway instead of waiting for a backorder.

But Google the BMW / part number first, may take you to ebay or such where some of them are available used.

Re: need valve buckets

Ray,

The cost is $25.00 each at the dealer, I dont know what kind of relationship you have with your dealer but back when I had my 04 RS I needed four of them as well, went to order them and the parts manager said they have boxes of used ones in the back, told me bring him my old ones and he’ll just exchange for the ones I needed, NO CHARGE!!! Technically he said he’s suppose to sell me new ones, Very stand up guy, needless to say they have my business, very smart P.R. move. When I was checking my valves I also did several maintenance items at the same time, ended up spending a few hundred bucks from them, I could’ve bought the parts online and saved a few dollars, but with that kind of PR, I was more than greatful to buy from my dealer!

Re: need valve buckets

Just got off the phone with the guys at Re-Pscycle in Lithopolis,OH, they had the required number of buckets I needed and a Fuel filler with vents and float I needed. They worked with me and gave me a fair deal, shipped out today should have by Thursday.

Thanks for all the replies.
