Cliffhanger Road

I'm not sure if this has been posted before. Check out around the 4 minute mark as the guy gets sideways.

Re: Cliffhanger Road

Rob did that trip many moons ago. I would love to do it but don't want to go in a group tour.

One of many fun roads in South America. This was Peru.

Sure Pete, its easy. CJS350

Pete, you have so much more adventure in you that I could ever possibly muster. Pretty fantastic. I've been on only a few roads where there was no recovery going over the edge and ruined me for life.

Re: Cliffhanger Road

Wow... pretty wild! You get a little anxious just watching rides like that. Would require some serious sphincter control if you were doing it for real... one wrong move & you're history!

Same thing looking at those pics & videos of hiking up Mount Huashan in China.

Re: Cliffhanger Road

I like watching these videos - I like a little bit of thrill - but today I honestly think I would pass on that much thrill.

Something lately about my survival instincts - they run through me at a much sooner than later time.

Basically I would be too afraid - one mistake - and that could/would be the end of me.

Come on, Bruce! At your (our) age, if you went over the edge, it's not like everyone would say: "What a tragedy. He had his whole life ahead of him."

I don't know - I think my level of riding skills at this point - I most definitely would go over the edge- and everyone would be saying "What was he thinking" and the responses would be something like " well he wasn't was he"?

Many riders here have the skill to do that ride - I'm just not one of them anymore - mostly because I would be thinking about going over the edge so of course I would - like target fixation.

Re: Cliffhanger Road

You may have seen this one but if not, skip to the 5 minute mark where a guy riding the Trans America Trail goes over the edge.

https://youtu.be/0BOOxl8jQhc

We rode places like that on the TAT and I kept telling myself over and over again, "the clutch is my safety switch" In other words if I started heading some place I didn't want to go, pull the clutch in and sort it out - don't power it out. I still puckered up the whole time we were in spots like that even trying to ignore it and just focus on the trail ahead.

Holy sh*t! I missed that on ADV Rider. He's a lucky guy.
